KERATINIZATION

  • 1. WHAT IS KERATINIZATION?

A:            The movement cycle of Keratinocytes through different layer of epidermis towards final transformation to Corneocytes.                               

  • 2. WHAT IS THE OTHER NAME OF KERATINIZATION?

A:            Cornification. 

  • 3. WHY IS KERATINIZED SKIN IMPORTANT?

A:            Keratinized Skin means the Skin having an hardened and died layer of cells which help to protect the tissues that lie underneath and it prevents certain substances from passing into or out of the tissues below.

  • 4.WHICH VITAMIN DIRECTLY EFFECT KERATINIZATION?

A:            Vitamin A.

  •  5.Why it is called Keratinized?

A:            The word ‘KERA’ is derived from the Greek word meaning horn. The term Keratin stood for all of the proteins extracted from skin modifications, such as nails, hairs and entire skin. These are found only in epithelial cells.

A:       It depends on number of Hair Follicles present in our skin. Sebaceous Glands are the Glands releases Sebum or Oil and Sudoriferous Gland are the Glands which release Sweat.
